Host: National Gallery
Date: March 16th to April 6th
This course introduces four art historical approaches which can be used to 'read' paintings.
Each week, our lecturers will explore a painting in the National Gallery’s collection through a specific methodological lens: social history, de-colonialism, feminism and queer studies, before moving outwards to consider the wider application of their approach.
With this understanding, you can then develop your skills in visual analysis and establish a critical framework through which to interpret paintings.
